L'ex bandiera dello United Gary Neville, oggi opinionista per Sky Sport UK, si è espresso così in merito alla nascente Superlega per i top club europei, scoraggiata a gran voce nel pomeriggio dalla UEFA:
"Questi sono degli impostori, non hanno nulla a che fare con i valori di questo club (Il Manchester United, ndr). I tifosi devono essere protetti. Io lavoro e guadagno dal calcio, ma i valori devono essere protetti. Quando è troppo è troppo. La motivazione è l'avidità, ma secondo me è un atto criminale. Questo è il maggiore sport nel mondo e questa operazione è un atto criminale contro i tifosi. È una barzelletta".
